Christmas Present

“I deserve this. For putting up with Tech.”
20 Dec
I might be turning into a nerd. I guess it took graduating from Tech instead of simply going for this to happen.
I woke up suddenly, and when I say suddenly I mean I woke up so fast that Amanda freaked out, to write down a block of PHP pseudocode. I really hope this doesn’t turn in to a morning ritual. (I have too many of those already.) I don’t like waking up suddenly from a deep sleep. MAYBE IF MY BOSS DIDN’T WORK ME TO DEA… wait what?

Oh GOODNESS.
It has been over 2 months since I posted last. Sometimes life just gets in the way. But do I have some news for you.
The life that has gotten in my way of life is no more. I have officially graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Science Technology and Culture. (Linking things is fun. Isn’t it more fun to read when there are things to do?!) With a bill close to $80,000 and a little bit still left to pay (loans — ughhhhhhh), I’m moving on to [hopefully] bigger and better things.
I can remember when I was in kindergarten and thinking about how long it would take to graduate from college. I seriously can. Green slide. Red steps. Yellow crawl-through-tube. Throwing rocks at girls. Like it was last week. It was been almost 20 years since then. Think about that. Add up 6.5 years to get my undergraduate degree, 4 years of high school, 3 years of middle school, and 6 years in elementary school — 19.5 in school. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Imagine if I was going for a Master’s or a Doctorate. I could be away for like 30. (Yes. Metaphor for jail rings in my ears.)
People keep asking me if it feels good to be done. It’s a little anticlimactic. There wasn’t a magical light bulb that went off to let me know that I should be SUPER HAPPY. Feels a little bit the same. I wasn’t hyping it up, so I’m not disappointed. Guess that’s why you shouldn’t base your happiness on earthly things. (They tend to let you down.)
Still looking for a full-time job. SO IF YOU KNOW ANYONE OR ANY OPENINGS FOR A FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPER WITH STRONG EXPERIENCE IN HTML/CSS/PHP/MYSQL … cough. I’ve been updating my LinkedIn profile, creating a profile on Monster.com, searching a database the Tech has, and Google-ing for “Atlanta web development” (only 12,300,000 hits) to see what comes back. I have a few leads, but nothing substantial. Maybe this is one of those times where it’s “not what you know, but who you know.” Who knows!? (Not funny?)
Now that life has gotten a little bit less busy, I’m hoping that I will blog more. I’m hoping that I will do A LOT of things more. Let’s make a list…
Just in case you were wondering, they aren’t in order of importance. Obviously #7 should stay wh… wait what?
My mom got me a pretty cool picture. It’s a limited edition pen and ink drawing of Tech Tower and it’s dang awesome too. She got me a frame for my diploma too. Hopefully my diploma will be here within the month. I don’t really remember how long it took for Amanda’s to come. But it is CHRISTmas, so who knows how long it might take. The winter break coupled with furloughs might mean it doesn’t come until mid-January.
I guess that’s about it for now. I’m doing some leftover work from one of my internships. I’m keeping out of trouble and trying not to get bored sitting at home. I actually had to do chores the other day. That was fun. Man. Stay at home parents definitely DON’T have it easy.
